The Palace of Justice is one of the many magnificent buildings that shape the image of Vienna's city center. It is impressive from the outside and from the inside. The central hall, which is dominated by the staircase and the large stone figure of “Justitia”, is particularly striking.

Visitors to the Palace of Justice, however, should know that the building is primarily a courthouse in which several hundred people work and where court hearings take place every day.

The Palace of Justice is not a museum.

For people who do not work in this building and who are not attending court hearings, the following areas are freely accessible:

• the entrance area;

• the main hall;

• the grand staircase leading up to the second floor;

• the second floor gallery along the main hall;

• the Justizcafé on the fifth floor (accessible by elevator).

All other areas of the building are not open to the public.

Der Justizpalast ist einer der vielen Prunkbauten, die das Bild der Wiener Innenstadt prägen. Imposant ist er von außen und von innen. Besonders eindrucksvoll ist die zentrale Halle, die von einer Prunkstiege und von der großen steinernen Figur der „Justitia“ beherrscht wird.

Besucherinnen und Besucher des Justizpalasts sollen aber auch wissen, dass das Haus in erster Linie ein Gerichtsgebäude ist, in dem mehrere hundert Menschen arbeiten und in dem täglich Gerichtsverhandlungen stattfinden.

Der Justizpalast ist kein Museum.

Für Personen, die nicht in diesem Haus arbeiten und die nicht zu Gerichtsverhandlungen geladen sind oder sie besuchen, sind die folgenden Orte frei zugänglich:

• der Eingangsbereich;

• die zentrale Halle (die Aula);

• die Prunkstiege, die in den zweiten Stock führt;

• der Rundgang im zweiten Stock entlang der zentralen Halle (Aula);

• das Justizcafé im fünften Stock (mit dem Lift erreichbar).

Alle anderen Bereiche des Hauses sind für Besichtigungen nicht zugänglich.
